Until Dawn Remake Faces Staff Reduction Turmoil
With only a few months away from launching the Until Dawn remake, Ballistic Moon studio seems to be sailing through troubled waters. With rumors swirling online of sharp staff cuts and proposed salary reductions, players are not sure the deadline will be fulfilled.
As reported on Resetera, Ballistic Moon has yet to release an official statement regarding the layoffs, and the exact number is not yet known. However, a couple of developers from the studio have confirmed on their LinkedIn accounts that they have been laid off.
” Like many others in this wonderful but turbulent industry, I am sadly being made redundant from my role,” wrote Cassy Cornish. The other developer, Harry Williams, shared that “after two exciting years working on the wonderful Until Dawn 2024 at Ballistic Moon I am unfortunately being made redundant as a Technical Designer. I’ve loved working with everyone at BM and hope I cross paths with members of that family in future projects!”
Will Until Dawn Meet its October Release Date?
As of now, no other team members appear to have confirmed their layoff at the time of writing. However, this adds to the tens of thousands of layoffs that have occurred across the games industry in recent years.
A former Supermassive Games developer co-founded the studio a few years ago, and the upcoming Until Dawn remake is the studio’s first game. The game should be released on October 4, but there has been no news of how the layoffs might affect the production.
It’s not the only studio to have suffered before its game makes its debut. although Visions of Mana just got released on Thursday, Ouka Studios has already been slated to shut down. Likewise, it faced layoffs days before its release. Hopefully, this isn’t the beginning of a trend that will see the Until Dawn remake shutter before launch.
