Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition – Final Update Trailer
This week the team behind the fan-made Enhanced Edition of Silent Hill 2 released its 10th and final update. While you’ve been able to play the Enhanced Edition, earlier this week it received its last update.
The overhaul was designed to bring more quality-of-life improvements to the PC port. A number of high-definition resolutions, upscaled images, widescreen camera fixes, and restored effects were all included in the project.
In the final update, the game’s environmental assets have been enhanced, flashlight reflections have been restored, water visuals have been improved, 60 fps FMVs have been added, and a whole lot more has been streamlined.
Silent Hill 2 Gets Complete Overhaul
This video covers all the improvements, which run at a beefy 70 minutes. Some of the improvements may look better than others, but overall it’s a really strong performance improvement for a classic game. You should note that PC is the only available platform to play this game.
However, sometimes the things developers do can be mind-boggling. While Konami and Bloober Team are looking to make Silent Hill 2 the definitive Silent Hill game, why not a new season? Personally, I don’t understand why the former can’t follow its Metal Gear Solid model. There are parts 3, etc.
I believe it has to do with closure, if this is true, there might be another original version coming soon. So, let’s phase out this Enhanced Edition. I guess we will eventually know soon. Now back to the news. A remake of Silent Hill 2 is being announced along with a remaster of the original game. Hey, I’m not Konami, who appears to have some big plans for the franchise.
The Silent Hill 2 remake is just a few weeks away, so if you wish to play it when it comes out, you won’t have too long to wait. The game is due on October 8. There is even a preview from Kelsey that says it’s actually a lot better than expected.
