Crysis Next Battle Royale Gameplay Leaks Online
This is the first time that we have seen gameplay from Crysis Next, a developing battle royale game set in the Crysis universe. It was initially announced as a multiplayer-focused, third-person shooter before Crytek canceled it quietly. Rumors of the game surfaced as early as 2020.
The series’ developer, Crytek, has been enforcing takedown notices against those uploading and sharing the content online. In gameplay videos of Crysis Next one can see a multiplayer system that’s still in development.
There has been no acknowledgment of this by Crytek, and soon Crysis 4 was announced. It has been around two years since Crytek announced that another game was coming. Fans are left to wonder if this was the long-awaited sequel.
According to an IGN blog post, the early image bore trademarks registered to the studio.
Very early gameplay, which hit YouTube last week, shows third-person shooting in a basic warm-up arena with Crysis’ trademark abilities and sound effects layered on top. Crytek is working to remove the footage from YouTube, with videos now displaying a message that confirms a copyright claim by the company. However, some remain live at the time of publication.
Crysis Next Silently Canceled
There have been over ten years since the release of Crysis 3, and players are hungry for more nanosuit-powered adventures. Crysis Next won’t happen. Players would customize a nanosuit and choose one of three roles: Frontliner, Tactician, or Flanker
We haven’t heard anything about Crysis 4 since it was announced in January 2022. Crytek posted a teaser that showed almost nothing, and we haven’t heard anything since. The game is assumed to be under heavy development at this time.
During the development of Crysis Next, it was assumed that it would have been a power-driven battle royale, but that’s purely conjecture. We do not know when Crysis Next was canceled, only that it was.
