Call of Duty Warzone Announces Verdansk Return
Despite the brand new Resurgence map and a mountain of improvements, There is bigger news. It’s official! Call of Duty Warzone announces that Verdansk is returning to Warzone during Black Ops 6.
During the launch of Black Ops 6 and its big annual overhaul, many fans hoped that the original map Verdansk would return to Call of Duty Warzone. Instead, Area 99 has been announced as the next new map.
In today’s CoD Next Livestream, the gameplay was shown of Area 99, a new battleground for Resurgence, but then it was confirmed that Verdansk would return for Warzone’s fifth anniversary.
“This spring, we’ll be celebrating an incredible five years of Warzone, and on behalf of all of us who work to bring the Warzone experience to life each day, thank you for playing,” says CoD Next host and senior director of Call of Duty studio communications Stephanie Snowden. “It only feels right that to celebrate this milestone, we gotta go back to our roots.”
Call of Duty to Celebrate 5th Anniversary With Verdansk Map
It was confirmed by Snowden that Verdansk will be returning to Warzone in Spring 2025. It was originally released in 2020, and you can expect the map’s return in March next year. This will coincide with the launch of the Black Ops 6 Season 2.
There is no doubt that nostalgia plays a part in this, but Verdansk is revered by most Call of Duty players and is considered Warzone’s best large-scale map ever. Successors like Caldera, Al Mazrah, and Urzikstan have been strong, but have failed to garner the same level of praise and adoration.
The return of Verdansk will be undoubtedly a huge moment for the game, much like how last year’s Chapter 1 map brought in record player counts.
For now, you’ll have to settle with Urzikstan and Area 99, but Verdansk will return in just a few months. If you’ve fallen out of love with Warzone, you might enjoy some of our other favorite FPS games and free PC games.
